Washington State Reviews Certifier Program

washington-state-flag-vertical175xSeptember 2015—NCCCO continues to assist the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) with the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the Washington State Crane Certifier program. The latest meeting of subject matter experts, held in Seattle in August, was attended by industry stakeholders including representatives from crane rental firms, certifiers, and consultants.

The meeting, led by Washington State L&I’s Cranes Technical Specialist, Brian Haight, focused on reviewing the existing item banks and developing additional items for the program. Haight also serves as a Commissioner on the NCCCO Commission. Clarification of the recertification process that L&I will use to renew certifier licenses was also undertaken.

The State of Washington contracted with NCCCO in 2008 to develop and administer a state certification program for crane inspectors. Working in conjunction with subject matter experts and state representatives, NCCCO has administered and maintained the program ever since.
