August 2014—Following last October’s launch of the CCO Lift Director certification, a new Lift Director Exam Management Committee has been formed to ensure that the program continues to meet the needs of industry. The new committee is chaired by NCCCO Commissioner William “Hank” Dutton, Technical Services Senior Specialist with Construction Risk Control at Travelers Insurance, and is made up of 12 additional industry experts. According to Dutton, “The task force spent a year and a half developing this new program, but the Lift Director Exam Management Committee’s work has just begun.”
The committee, which will hold its first meeting during the fall NCCCO meetings in Baltimore during the week of October 13-17, 2014, will have oversight over the Lift Director program administration, including content review, monitoring of the exams’ performance, and marketing the new program. The committee will also be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Lift Director exams and ensuring their methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes are consistent.
An application to extend the scope of NCCCO’s ANSI accreditation to include the CCO Lift Director certification is currently being processed by the American National Standards Institute.
