October 2013--The Florida Crane Owners’ Council, Inc. awarded a full crane operator certification scholarship at a recent membership meeting on September 13, 2013, in Orlando. This is the second year in a row the scholarship has been awarded to member crane company operators. This year’s winner is Dustin Cleghorn of DC Crane Service, Inc., W. Palm Beach, Florida. Scholarships were donated by FCOC member Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB) for the second year in a row, and Billy Cook of Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau made the scholarship award presentations. Cleghorn intends to use his scholarship to add LBC and LBC designations to his existing CCO certification.

The mission of FCOC since 1999 is to collectively address key issues of Florida crane owners and monitor laws, regulations and certain standards for the efficient and safe operation of all cranes in the state of Florida. “With the OSHA standard governing crane operator certification, the timing of these scholarships is designed to assist FCOC member companies in meeting those new requirements,” said John Wessel, Managing Director of FCOC.
