Certification Program Development Pace Unprecedented

September 2009  – With CCO program development at an unprecedented pace, NCCCO’s Task Forces and Committees are continuing to schedule meetings at a record rate.

The month of July alone saw no less than four Task Force meetings: two for the Rigger Certification program, and one each for the Articulating Crane Operator program and the Crane Inspector program NCCCO is developing for the State of Washington. Sponsors for these meetings included BP America, Houston, TX, Crosby, Tulsa, OK, and V&H Trucks, Marshfield, WI.

Several members of NCCCO’s Written Exam Management Committee and Master Crane Operator Task Force took a break from the proceedings during their meeting last month in Howell, Michigan.  Pictured are representatives from Boh Bros. Construction, Cianbro Construction, Crane Tech, Equipment Training Solutions, International Union of Operating Engineers, Link-Belt Construction Equipment, Manitowoc Cranes, Texas Crane Academy, and Turner Industries.

In August, two additional meetings were held: the Master Crane Operator Task Force met in Howell, MI, in conjunction with NCCCO’s standing committee for the management of the Mobile Crane Written Exam program. Both the Michigan meetings were held courtesy of Local 324 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

The latest news on all the new CCO certification programs will be profiled in a featured presentation at the upcoming SC&RA Crane & Rigging Workshop to be held September 17-19, 2009 in Milwaukee, WI.  NCCCO will also detail the steps needed to host test administrations in a special seminar titled Soup to Nuts: The “How-To” of CCO Testing.
